What We Loved
The morning after is the point. Scoop a little on with the spatula, go to sleep, wake up and it is still there, a bit of slip on the lips instead of the dry feeling the winter usually leaves. The texture is denser than a balm stick and melts at lip temperature into a glossy layer. The jar is small, pink and pleasing, and it has survived nine months of a bedside drawer without the lid loosening or the balm changing. Three people asked what it was; two received one for their birthdays.
What Annoyed Us
The spatula is tiny and lives loose in the lid, and half the time we used a finger anyway. The berry scent is sweet enough that a fragrance-averse tester declined a second night. During the day it is too shiny and too thick; it is a night product, full stop.
The Catch
Much of the appeal is packaging and scent. A plain balm stick under a lip does most of the practical job. This is nicer, and that niceness is what you are paying for.
