What We Loved
The morning after a rain we cleared a lawn's worth of dandelions in twenty minutes without kneeling once. Step on the plate, the claws close under the crown, tilt, and the weed comes out with a satisfying length of root. Push the slider and it drops in the bucket. The handle is long enough for a tall tester and the motion is quick once you find it.
What Annoyed Us
By July, with the lawn dry, the claws would not go in and we snapped leaves off instead. Each pull leaves a small hole that wants topping with soil. Small, flat weeds like plantain slip between the claws.
The Catch
This works in the conditions it works in. Damp soil and upright weeds with a central root are its whole world, and a summer lawn on a slope is not that.

Performance
In damp soil roughly most pulls bring the full root. In dry soil the rate drops steeply. The claws have stayed sharp and the mechanism has not jammed. It is quick to reset and easy to aim once you learn to center the claws on the crown.
