What We Loved
Seven flights and two overnight trains since February. Wrapped so the brace sits between jaw and shoulder, it turns the window-seat lean into something you can hold for three hours without waking up with a bent neck. It rolls into the side pocket of a carry-on and weighs nothing, which is the whole argument against carrying a foam horseshoe clipped to a backpack. The fleece cover has been through the washing machine several times and come back the same.
What Annoyed Us
It only works if you lean, and only to the side you put the brace on. On a warm flight the fleece around the neck is too much after an hour. The first two attempts at wrapping it produced a lump in the wrong place, and there is a knack to tucking the end. It also looks, from across the aisle, like a neck injury.
The Catch
The support is a shelf for the side of your head. If you are a straight-up or head-back sleeper it offers nothing, and you cannot tell in advance which sort of sleeper the recipient is unless you have watched them on a plane. It is a great gift for a known side-leaner and a strange one for anyone else.

Performance
For the side-leaner it worked better than the foam horseshoe, which pushes the head forward and slides off. Once positioned, the brace held for hours and the neck felt normal on landing. For the upright sleeper on our team it did nothing at all. The middle seat is where it shines, since it gives a lean where there is nothing to lean on.
